The day finally came after several days in Stanley and we made our break to Three Hummock Island, Three Gullies Bay. As we came into the bay so did Bill on Maatsuyker and then 6 other yachts followed. They had been on the northern end of the island experiencing a fair bit of swell. Once anchored we decided to try our Paravanes as flopperstoppers. Instant releif from the rocking and very simple to deploy! Very happy. Once everyone was anchored we took to the dingy for the trip to shore for a BBQ and chat whilst the sun was setting. Jake from “Bundaburg” also Bills’ son went diving and picked a dozen Abalone as well as spearing a Banded Marwong and a Trevally. The wind blew 25 – 30 knts SW all night and this morning we decided to head around the northern tip of Hunter Island to enable us to arrive at Hells Gates at the mouth of Macquarie Harbour tomorrow morning. At present we have 32knts apparent wind from the SW, 3-4m swell with 1m waves on top. But we are comfy , warm and dry in our pilothouse, whilst others in yachts are cold and wet, with some turning back for the shelter of Stanley.
