Abeam Flinders Island 4pm

After a rough night, 30knt winds and 3+ metre seas, we have spent today catching up on sleep. I was unsure whether it was better to be able to see in the light of day or not?? Opal Lady handled the seas very well, she was picked up by the swell and lifted to great heights before the swell progressed ahead, then we prepared for the next swell. By lunch today the seas had abated and it’s now a beautiful calm sunny day, with 5-10 knts breeze from the north. I’m sure everything that we shoved in cupboards to be sorted later, now has been shaken into a different position. I will need to buy new tea cups and glasses when we get to Hobart as these ones have rounded bottoms and don’t stay vertical for long! For Dinner tonight we are having Peking Duck Pies and Vegetables. Having a deep freeze is great. At 8.20am and 6.20pm each day we are in contact via the HF radio with Tas Coast Radio and give them our position and current weather conditions. All but a few hours during the night our Ericcson (phone and Broadband internet) has worked fantastic, all the way across the strait. I have updated the ‘Our Location’ page on the website.
